Sleep apnea therapy
An individually made protrusion splint as an alternative to CPAP therapy for mild to moderate sleep apnea.
In sleep apnea, the flow of air repeatedly stops during sleep for at least 10 seconds. For mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, the mandibular protrusion splint is an effective alternative to CPAP therapy.
The splint moves the lower jaw slightly forward so that the throat stays open. It is worn only at night, is silent and needs no tubes or cables. We primarily work with biblock splints from Somnomed, made individually in our dental laboratory.
A specialist in sleep-related breathing disorders determines whether splint therapy is suitable; the sleep physician assesses its success. The sleep apnea splint is fully covered by health insurance.
