Certified in GBT

Julija Knezevic, certified dental hygienist HF, is part of our team. All our practitioners are specially trained and certified in Guided Biofilm Therapy.

Gentle, not scraping

Air Flow removes plaque and stains with water, air and a fine powder. No metallic cleaning instruments are needed for this, so there is no scratching noise.

More than a cleaning

A prophylaxis session includes an examination of your teeth, gums and tongue, takes personal risk factors into account and gives you guidance for oral hygiene at home.

What makes Guided Biofilm Therapy different

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) removes the bacterial biofilm that is often responsible for gum disease and tooth decay. With airflow devices and a 14 μm fine powder, we reach biofilm above and below the gum line as well as very young tartar – also on the gums, tongue and palate.

For sensitive areas such as root surfaces and gum pockets, we use Perio Flow, a powder based on the amino acid glycine that is particularly gentle on the gums. Tartar is removed gently with PIEZON NO PAIN.

We always begin with a thorough examination and tailor the treatment to you. GBT is especially well suited to implants, braces and dentures.

Frequently asked questions

Does dental hygiene hurt?

We work with Guided Biofilm Therapy, a minimally invasive and painless method. Many of our patients find it significantly more comfortable than traditional teeth cleaning, as the airflow devices noticeably reduce sensitivity.

How often should I come for dental hygiene?

We recommend a prophylaxis appointment every six months, so twice a year. In between, thorough brushing, dental floss and anti-decay mouthwash help prevent tooth decay.

What is the difference between prophylaxis and teeth cleaning?

Professional teeth cleaning focuses on removing plaque. Prophylaxis also includes a complete examination of the mouth and takes factors such as personal risks and dietary habits into account.

Does the cleaning remove coffee or tea stains?

Yes. The Airflow procedure removes stains caused by nicotine, coffee, red wine and tea, even in hard-to-reach areas such as between the teeth. It does not attack the enamel.

I am anxious about teeth cleaning. What now?

We know that anxious patients need special attention, and we take plenty of time to answer your questions. At a first appointment you get to know us, and together we discuss your wishes and goals.

Is dental hygiene advisable during pregnancy?

Yes. Hormonal changes greatly increase the risk of tooth decay and gum inflammation. We recommend professional teeth cleaning before pregnancy and regular cleanings during it.
