How implants support teeth
A dental implant is placed in the jawbone, where it takes over the role of the tooth root. In principle, any restoration that can be attached to natural teeth can also be attached to implants.
When is it suitable?
Fixed teeth are possible even when all teeth are missing. The implants then replace the lost teeth as artificial roots; to give the restoration enough support and anchorage, we place a sufficient number of implants in the right positions in the jaw.
- Replacing a single tooth
- Larger gaps
- A toothless upper or lower jaw
Benefits
- Complete replacement of the missing teeth, firmly anchored in the jawbone and therefore stable
- In a toothless jaw the palate stays uncovered – unlike with a conventional denture
