Root canal treatment
If the pulp is inflamed, we free the tooth from bacteria under local anaesthesia and preserve it.
If decay reaches the inside of the tooth, the pulp becomes inflamed. The inflammation can spread to the jaw within a few hours or days. Root canal treatment may also be needed after a tooth fracture or with infected fillings and crowns; often it is the only way to preserve the tooth.
We remove the inflamed tissue, clean and disinfect the root canals and seal them tightly. Thanks to local anaesthesia, the procedure is almost painless. Our team, led by Dr. Nina van Sprundel, specialises in root canal treatment.
- X-ray to assess the roots and the inflammation
- Local anaesthesia and isolation of the tooth with a rubber dam
- Cleaning and disinfection of the root canals
- Tight root canal filling
- Usually a crown for stability and a tight seal
