Why milk teeth need care too
Children's prophylaxis combines a preventive check-up with professional teeth cleaning and helps prevent oral disease from an early age. Tooth decay is a bacterial disease, and milk teeth are particularly vulnerable because of their thin, mineral-poor enamel. Decayed milk teeth can infect the permanent teeth.
Professional cleaning complements daily brushing: with special equipment we reach even hard-to-access areas. At the same time, children learn to brush carefully – for healthy, well-kept teeth in the long term.
Procedure
Children's prophylaxis is tailored to the needs of young patients:
- We examine the teeth.
- We show your child the correct brushing technique.
- We remove soft and hard deposits.
- We polish the teeth. Bacteria settle less easily on smooth surfaces than on rough ones.
With fixed braces
Brackets, wires and other parts of fixed braces make oral hygiene a challenge for young patients. We therefore recommend professional teeth cleaning every 3 months.
