Ultra-thin, handcrafted ceramic shells change the colour, shape and proportions of the front teeth – with minimal intervention.

Veneers are custom-made ceramic shells bonded to the front surface of the teeth. For more than 15 years, high-end aesthetic ceramic restorations have been the focus of Dr. med. dent. Nina van Sprundel. We plan every smile with Digital Smile Design; each veneer is handcrafted by dental aesthetician Beat Bieri in Zurich.

Usually we reduce only the enamel, by 0.3–0.5 mm, significantly less than for a crown. Lumineers of around 0.3 mm can usually be bonded without preparing the teeth, but suit selected cases only. Even with worn teeth, erosion or teeth grinding, veneers are often possible with careful planning and a protective night guard.

Digital Smile Design

We design your new smile on screen – you see and test the result before any treatment begins.

From an intraoral scan, a photo series and your facial proportions, we plan tooth shape, length, proportions and shade in harmony with your face. A mock-up shows the planned result directly on your teeth, with no grinding; your feedback flows straight back into the plan.

Only once you are convinced do we bring the design to life – with veneers, ceramic crowns, aligner therapy or whitening, depending on your starting point. The entry point is the Smile Check: in around 60 minutes we capture your teeth, and you receive an honest initial assessment, with no obligation.

Invisalign – aligner therapy

Transparent aligners correct misaligned teeth almost invisibly, typically within 5–18 months.

Invisalign corrects misaligned teeth with transparent aligners that hardly anyone will notice. After typically 5–18 months of treatment, your teeth are straightened and stand in a harmonious dental arch.

Crooked teeth are not only a question of appearance: they make cleaning more difficult and lead to uneven wear. The aligners are comfortable and unobtrusive and help to stop the loss of tooth structure.

Retainer

Retainers keep your teeth in the position achieved after orthodontic correction.

After orthodontic correction, teeth tend to move back to their previous position. Such a relapse can occur at any age; we therefore recommend retention for life.

The retention splint, made of transparent plastic, is worn at night and you insert it yourself. It requires discipline: if it is not worn reliably, the position of the teeth can change again within a very short time. The wire retainer is a thin wire bonded behind the front teeth, usually from canine to canine. Firmly fixed in the mouth, it provides reliable permanent retention.

Bleaching – teeth whitening

We whiten your teeth in the practice with power bleaching, or at home with a custom-made bleaching tray.

For power bleaching, we apply a professional whitening gel and combine it with a special LED lamp; this can be done in one session. With home bleaching, you whiten your teeth at home over 2–3 weeks, using a custom-made tray prepared by Dr. Nina van Sprundel.

Professional whitening does not attack enamel or dentine. We recommend bleaching for healthy adults only; children, pregnant or breastfeeding women and people with serious illnesses should refrain from it. We clarify the requirements in a preliminary examination.

Smile Check

In the Smile Check you discuss your wishes with Dr. Nina van Sprundel and receive an objective assessment of your teeth.

You talk to Dr. Nina van Sprundel about your ideas for redesigning your smile; we then examine your teeth briefly. You receive an objective opinion on the condition of your teeth and a recommendation on which measures can give you a new, healthy and beautiful smile.

For a natural result, we match the colour and shape of your teeth and the course of your gums to your face. The smile design, expected costs and treatment planning can be discussed in a second appointment.
