What is fissure sealing?
Fissures are the natural grooves on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. We seal them with a thin, flowable resin. This keeps bacteria out of the fissures, so decay cannot develop there.
Who is it for?
We usually seal the permanent molars of children and teenagers, as these teeth are particularly prone to decay. Sealing protects against decay and preserves dental health in the long term.
Care and check-ups
Good oral hygiene remains essential even with sealants. At regular check-ups we examine the sealing and renew it if needed.
